About Brownstown community centre

A bit about us

Brownstown Community Centre has been the pinnacle of the community for many years.

In 2014 we opened our new purpose-built Centre thanks to the hard work and excellent fundraising by so many people within our community. On 5 th September 2014, Fr. Garland opened and held a blessing for the new Centre and since its inception there have been many successful events hosted in our wonderful venue for all residents in our community of all ages.

OUR HISTORY

Brownstown has continued to host a great annual Drama production every year except for the Covid years. In 2023 Brownstown Drama will be celebrating 30 years of shows to entertain the entire community.

One of the biggest fundraisers held for the community Centre was taking part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2015 and 2016 in partnership with St. Tola’s School in Delvin. These fundraisers were paramount in significantly reducing the debt of the community Centre development costs. In 2017 we hosted our inaugural American Tea Party, and this was followed in 2018 of another Tea Party which combined with Brownstown Hurler’s 40 th year anniversary celebrations on winning the Senior Hurling Championship.

Over years many events have been held in Brownstown Community Centre, ranging from Whist, Sports Days, Halloween Parties, Santa’s Grotto, Hurling and Camogie Club presentations and big draws, Indoor Soccer, Fitness Classes, card nights, Bokwa exercise classes, Easter Egg hunts, community clean up task force, Badminton, Art & Design classes, hosting of AGM and Seminars, Archery, Jiving classes, Line Dancing classes, Scouts Sleepovers, 5KM and 10KM Road Races, 5km Charity Walks, Car Boot Sales, Christmas Markets.

It is fantastic to see all the above uses for our facilities and we wish to continue its success and
improve on many more activities and events going forward. We are always open to fresh ideas and
input where our community can continue to benefit.
